Phonics Worksheets Editable - Vowel Digraphs & Extended Code
Overview
Description
Consolidate your phonics lessons with these phonics worksheets. There are many uses for these vowel digraph word worksheets! Includes vowel digraphs, trigraphs, split digraphs and r-controlled vowels. Also Use in literacy centres, independent work, dictation, homework and phonics rotations.
I created this resource to support early writing in the classroom. When introducing a new phoneme (sound) it is important to apply and practice the new sound by reading and writing words with the new sound.
I use these worksheets as the independent practice part of the lesson, after we have read and written the words together on whiteboards (Using the companion sentence PowerPoint that goes along with this resource). You can either use them as dictation templates or independent writing worksheets and encourage students to write a word/ sentence using the sounds that they know.
68 worksheets included:
- 32 graphemes (2 options) including words in a sequence as new sounds are introduced.
Included graphemes:

Each worksheet practices the important skills of reading and writing words and a sentence with the new focus sound that you have just taught. These skills are important for independent practise so that the students practise and apply their new phonics knowledge.
