Description

It doesn't get more important than mastering foundation phonics for a beginning reader. Sequencing the sounds and blending makes words and the practice needed may be a flip book targeted at that specific skill. The beauty of Flip Books is that, once you have them, you'll always have them. You only need a few minutes prior to reading to develop the skill and it will become automatic over time.

Take the rime 'op' in the CVC book. The student finds 'op'. Then you flip the onsets until you see automaticity kick in. Pseudowords are great for this, so don't flip past "jop'. I do sometimes ask if that was a real word. but I pick up the pace again. It only takes up to five minutes each day for you to see the skill developing as they generalise this ability to other words they are reading.

I have included 17 A4 Vowel Posters as the bonus file.
