Description
Adding single denominations is a precursor skill for adding various money amounts. This game provides the practice that provides the foundation. All you need is a six-sided die and plastic coins.
This game started as intervention to recognise Australian coins and target number patterns, originally with dollar coins. I liked how motivating this game was and how it contributed to counting patterns in 2's, 5's, 10's, 20's and 50's. I have expanded it over time and this is the final product (for now).
It is a game for two players. I have added a threshold amount, but I usually use duration as we finish when time is up and the players count their coins to see who has the most (the winner).
