Every lesson follows the same clear rhythm, with a learning intention, success criteria, key language, explicit teaching, class discussion and a student task. Students start by sorting transport into land, water and air and learning how it moves people and goods. They then compare road, rail, water and air transport from the past with transport today, learn how Aboriginal Peoples used bark canoes and Torres Strait Islander Peoples used dugout canoes, and see how transport at Circular Quay has changed over time. The unit ends with students choosing suitable transport for different places and describing change with "In the past …" and "Now …".
