Description

My Number Sense Interactive PowerPoint follows the Gradual Release of Responsibility model, otherwise referred to as the 'I do, We do, You do' Strategy. This strategy ensures students are shown a skill explicitly by the teacher (with the help of this PowerPoint)- which is the 'I do' part. It then allows a prompt, the 'We do', where the teacher and students complete an activity together. Last comes the 'You do' activity and have been able to practice the skill and show their understanding.

This resource MUST be opened in PowerPoint and it must be played through the Slideshow tab for the animations to work. Most of the slides work with a mouse click, however some will happen automatically as soon as you go to the next slide (The number gifs). Like with all of my Interactive PowerPoints, it is advised that you look at and play the Slideshow before viewing it with your class, so that you know how it works and you are confident using it.


Here is a little summary of what is included in this 208 slide PowerPoint:

  • Count from 0 to the number specified.
  • Learn correct formation of each number 10-20.
  • Count and draw collections.
  • Fill in tens frames.
  • Bundles of ten, showing trading single sticks to bundles of ten.
  • MAB showing trading 10 ones for 1 ten.
  • Explore number representations and MORE!


As well as three games per number:

  1. 'Spin the wheel'- Let's move.
  2. 'Number line find'- Let's check.
  3. 'Thumbs up, thumbs down'- Let's play.


The three games were added in for engagement and as a way for you to check in and see if your students are understanding the concepts being taught.


It includes hyperlinks taking you straight to the relevant slides, saving you time.


Please Note: Your students will need a whiteboard, some paper, MAB, bundles of ten and extra sticks and tens frames to complete the 'You do' sections. They could also draw the representation however I do advise using hands on materials. I get students to hold up their whiteboards and show me their work. I give my class a 1 minute left warning and then I say "Chin it in 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1" and students will hold their whiteboard under their chin.


A numbers 0-9 version is also available.
