Need a fun, colourful craft activity to help your Preschool, Kindergarten and 1st Grade students practice their scissor skills? This pirate-themed fine motor activity will look amazing displayed around your classroom and will help your students develop a very important fine motor skill!

Once students have developed the muscle strength and dexterity to hold a pair of scissors, 'snipping' is the first stage in developing scissor skills. Combine this with colourful strips of paper, fun pirate-y images and a glue stick and you've got yourself an art and fine motor lesson your kids will love!

HOW TO USE

⭐️ Provide students with strips of different coloured paper. You can print the grids included in the download straight onto coloured paper and slice into strips for students to practice cutting along a line, or provide blank coloured strips for them to cut freely

⭐️ Students cut up their strips of paper into 'mosaic' pieces and paste carefully on the inside of the designs. They continue pasting until the design has been filled

⭐️ Students with more advanced cutting skills could cut their paper into smaller shapes to fit inside the lines of the design more accurately

⭐️ Display on a bulletin board in the classroom to show off students' fabulous work, or send home for proud display on the fridge!
