Mrs Rowntree Fluency Program: ×10 is a comprehensive 10-week mathematics program designed to develop fluency, multiplicative thinking and place-value understanding through engaging, differentiated routines.

The Mrs Rowntree Fluency Programs use carefully designed mathematical routines that are revisited across the week to progressively develop mathematical thinking over time. Rather than relying on isolated worksheets or repetitive drills, students build understanding through repeated purposeful practice while making meaningful connections between representations, patterns and mathematical ideas.

Designed for students in Years 1–4, this adaptable program can be used across the week as a whole-class fluency routine, warm-up, intervention program, small-group lesson or independent mathematics activity.

  • Represent ×10 using concrete materials and place value
  • Build and regroup 10 groups of a number
  • Recognise that each digit represents 10 times its previous value
  • Multiply numbers containing zero by 10 while maintaining place-value structure
