Students in Eastern division schools start on **Wednesday 3 February** after four school development days, and the year ends for students on **Friday 17 December**.

## Public Holidays During Term

These NSW public holidays in 2027 land on a school day, so students are not at school. Where the note names an area or a group, the holiday only applies there, so check with your school. Worth knowing before you plan a unit or a test week.

## Good to Know for NSW Teachers

**Western division starts a week later.** Schools in the far west of NSW have school development days from Thursday 4 to Tuesday 9 February, and students start on **Wednesday 10 February**. That makes Term 1 9 weeks for Western division students. Terms 2 to 4 are the same as the Eastern division. Their summer holidays run to Friday 4 February 2028.

**Term 2 starts on a Thursday.** Monday 26 April is the public holiday for Anzac Day, which falls on a Sunday in 2027. Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 April are school development days, so students return on **Thursday 29 April**.

**Easter is in Term 1.** Good Friday (26 March) and Easter Monday (29 March) are public holidays two weeks before the end of term.

**School development days can move.** The department sets them, but its calendar says to check with your local school because dates may change. A small number of schools near the Victorian and Queensland borders also run on different dates.
