*ACT Term 1: new students start 1 February and continuing students 2 February. Easter 2027: Good Friday is 26 March and Easter Monday is 29 March.*

## What Is Different About 2027

**Easter comes early.** Good Friday is 26 March, so in most states Easter falls inside Term 1 rather than in the autumn holidays.

- **Victoria and Queensland** finish Term 1 on Thursday 25 March, the day before Good Friday, so Easter is in the holidays.
- **NSW, WA, SA, Tasmania and the ACT** run Term 1 to Friday 9 April. Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays in the middle of the term.
- **The NT** runs Term 1 to Friday 2 April, so Easter also falls inside its term.

**Anzac Day is a Sunday.** NSW, Queensland, WA, the ACT and the NT have a public holiday on Monday 26 April. Victoria, SA and Tasmania do not. In WA, that Monday is the first day of Term 2. In Queensland and the NT it falls during Term 2.

**The year starts on Wednesday 27 January** for students in Queensland, SA and the NT, and Thursday 28 January in Victoria. NSW Eastern division students start Wednesday 3 February and Tasmanian students Thursday 4 February.

### When does school start in 2027?

Students go back on **Wednesday 27 January** in Queensland, SA and the NT, **Thursday 28 January** in Victoria, **Monday 1 February** in WA and for new students in the ACT, **Wednesday 3 February** in NSW (Eastern division) and **Thursday 4 February** in Tasmania. Several states also publish staff days before students start. See your state page.

### When are the Easter school holidays in 2027?

Easter is early in 2027 (Good Friday 26 March), so most states do not have Easter in their holidays. The autumn break runs from 26 March to 11 April in Victoria and Queensland, and from 10 April to 25 April in WA, SA and Tasmania. NSW holidays are Monday 12 April to Friday 23 April. ACT students are off from 10 April to 27 April and NT students from 3 April to 12 April. Check your state section above for the exact days.
