The [Department for Education, Children and Young People](https://www.decyp.tas.gov.au/learning/term-dates/) has published 2027 term dates and professional learning days for Tasmanian government schools and colleges. Students start on **Thursday 4 February** and finish on **Thursday 16 December**.

## Good to Know for Tasmanian Teachers

**Teacher start and finish days.** Teachers in schools start on Monday 1 February and finish on Friday 17 December. Teachers in colleges start on Monday 25 January and finish on Friday 10 December. Colleges set their own finishing dates for students, which can depend on exam dates.

**Professional learning days.** Students do not attend on these days:

- Friday 11 June, K to 12, statewide
- Monday 19 July, K to 10, statewide. This is the first day of Term 3, so K to 10 students return on Tuesday 20 July
- Friday 22 October, K to 10, south only
- Friday 29 October, K to 10, north only

**Regional holidays.** Royal Hobart Regatta (Monday 8 February) and the Royal Hobart Show (Thursday 21 October) are holidays in the south. Recreation Day (Monday 1 November) is for the parts of the state that do not observe Regatta Day. The Royal Launceston Show (Thursday 7 October) and Burnie Show (Friday 1 October) fall in the spring holidays. The table above also lists the smaller local holidays. **Easter Tuesday and Launceston Cup.** Easter Tuesday (30 March) and Launceston Cup (Wednesday 24 February) are generally holidays for the Tasmanian public service only. Check with your school whether they are school days.

**No Anzac Day holiday.** Anzac Day is Sunday 25 April, and Tasmania has no substitute holiday when it falls on a weekend.
