## VIC 2027 Term Dates and Holidays

## How Long Is Each Term in 2027

| Term | First day for students | Last day for students | Weeks |
|------|------------------------|-----------------------|-------|
| Term 1 | Thursday 28 January | Thursday 25 March | 9 |
| Term 2 | Monday 12 April | Friday 25 June | 11 |
| Term 3 | Monday 12 July | Friday 17 September | 10 |
| Term 4 | Monday 4 October | Friday 17 December | 11 |

Weeks here count every calendar week the term runs across, so a term that starts on a Wednesday still has a Week 1. Your school may number a short first week differently.

## Public Holidays During Term

These VIC public holidays in 2027 land on a school day, so students are not at school. Where the note names an area or a group, the holiday only applies there, so check with your school. Worth knowing before you plan a unit or a test week.

| Public holiday | Date | Falls in | Note |
|----------------|------|----------|-------|
| Labour Day | Monday 8 March | Term 1 | |
| King's Birthday | Monday 14 June | Term 2 | |
| Melbourne Cup | Tuesday 2 November | Term 4 | Unless your council has a local holiday instead |

## Good to Know for Victorian Teachers

**Term 1 is short and Easter is in the holidays.** Term 1 ends on Thursday 25 March, the day before Good Friday, so it runs across 9 weeks. Term 2 then runs across 11.

**Holiday dates are the days between terms.** The Victorian Government publishes term start and finish dates. The holiday dates on this page are the days in between.

**No Anzac Day holiday.** Anzac Day is Sunday 25 April, and Victoria has no replacement holiday when it falls on a weekend.

**AFL Grand Final Friday is not set yet.** [Business Victoria](https://business.vic.gov.au/business-information/public-holidays/victorian-public-holidays-2027) will add the date when the 2027 AFL schedule is out. It is usually the last Friday in September, which in 2027 is 24 September, during the spring holidays.

**Melbourne Cup is in Term 4.** Tuesday 2 November is a public holiday across Victoria unless your council has arranged a local holiday instead.

**Catholic and independent schools set their own dates**, so check with your school.
