Promo Codes

Offer discounts to your buyers, helping drive sales and reward loyal customers.

Creating a Promo Code

Access the Promo Codes section in your Seller Portal and select Create Promo Code to launch the wizard, which involves three steps:

  1. Set your discount -- Choose between percentage discounts (e.g., 20%) or fixed dollar amounts (e.g., $5 off). Configure minimum requirements, usage limits, and date ranges.
  2. Choose applicable listings -- Apply the code to all listings or select specific items.
  3. Review and create -- Verify settings and confirm. You'll receive a shareable link for distribution.

Discount Types and Options

Percentage discount: Removes a percentage from the item price. Example: 20% off a $10 item saves $2.

Fixed amount discount: Deducts a set dollar amount per item. Example: $2 off saves that amount regardless of price (cannot exceed item price).

Minimum requirements:

  • Minimum spend -- buyers need a specified cart amount.
  • Minimum items -- buyers need a certain quantity of your items.

Usage limits: Set total code uses; unlimited when left blank.

Date ranges: Establish start dates for scheduled promotions or end dates for time-limited offers.

Specific listings: Apply to all listings or choose particular items.

How Discounts Are Applied

The system automatically calculates the best discount for customers, and discounts don't stack. If an item already has a sale price, the promo code won't layer additional discounts on top.

Example: A $10 item on sale for $8 with a "20% off" code still costs $8, not $6.40.

Sharing with Buyers

Shareable link: After creation, you receive a store link with the code embedded. Buyers see a notification indicating automatic application at checkout.

Share the code directly: Communicate codes through social media, newsletters, or product descriptions for manual entry.

Where buyers enter the code: A "Have a promo code?" field appears in the cart where buyers enter and apply codes.

Managing Your Promo Codes

Status Types

  • Active -- code is live
  • Scheduled -- future start date
  • Expired -- past end date
  • Used up -- reached usage limit
  • Inactive -- manually deactivated

Viewing Performance

Click on a code to see usage frequency, total discounts given, applicable listings, and recent activity.

Editing a Promo Code

You can edit a promo code's settings after creation -- including discount amount, applicable listings, dates, and usage limits. The only thing that cannot be changed is the code itself (e.g., "WINTER20"). If you need a different code, deactivate the existing one and create a new one.

Deactivating a Promo Code

Click deactivate to immediately stop code functionality. Deactivated codes appear in history but cannot be reactivated.
