These Maths tests, for year two students, are linked to the Australian Curriculum. The assessments cover Number, Algebra, Measurement, Geometry (now Space in v9.0) and Statistics & Probability (now Statistics in v9.0).

Two versions are included. One version is aligned with the Australian Curriculum v8.4 and the other version is aligned with the Australian Curriculum v9.0. This provides for all schools as they change over to the new curriculum at different times.

The package includes three assessments that will help to provide data that can be used to inform judgements of student achievement at certain times of the school year. It is recommended that they are administered at the following times:

• Assessment A - beginning of the school year - based on Australian Curriculum Maths Year One Year Content Descriptions. It is designed to assess the attainment of Year One content.
• Assessment B - end of Semester 1 - based on Australian Curriculum Maths Year Two Content Descriptions.
• Assessment C - end of Semester 2 - based on Australian Curriculum Maths Year Two Content Descriptions.

Also included in the package are answers and an Excel spreadsheet to record results. The spreadsheet will automatically provide total scores for each strand and a grand total, with a percentage, for each assessment. This gives an excellent overview of the students’ results and can be used to help you, the teacher, identify strengths and weaknesses, both for individuals and whole class – very helpful for ongoing planning.
