VOWEL TEAMS IGH AND IE (MAKING THE LONG /I/ SOUND) REVIEW ONLY!
Overview
Description
This PowerPoint is a REVIEW. It does not include my explicit Vowel Team igh and ie Interactive PowerPoints but it does include slides to review the Vowel Teams igh and ie- representing the long /i/ vowel sound.
It focuses on:
- igh being used to represent the long /i/ sound in the middle or at the end of a word.
- ie being used at the end of a word to represent the long /i/ vowel sound.
- Adding a suffix to a base word ending in y (flies, ties, fries, denies)
This Interactive PowerPoint is a review. It allows students to read and sort words with the vowel teams igh and ie.
This animated PowerPoint includes:
- A Vowel Team review- reminding students about the vowel teams and what sounds they represent.
- A child friendly Learning Intention.
- Select the correct spelling choice by applying the spelling rule.
- Help the spies find the igh or ie words in the night.
- Sort the igh and ie words on the high mountains.
- Mixed igh and ie decodable words.
- Decodable Sentences.
It is available in 6 fonts:
· Tas
· Vic Cursive
· Sassoon
· NSW
· QLD
· SA
The decodable sentences included could also be used as dictation- where the teacher asks the students to write a sentence one word at a time, to assess learning to see if students are applying this spelling rule.
