SYNTHETIC PHONICS INTERACTIVE POWERPOINT- PACK 3
Overview
Year levels
Description
This is pack 3 of my Interactive Phonics Packs and it focuses on introducing the sounds: , e, h, u, r, l, k.
This resource also revises the sounds covered in the previous two packs available on TPT. The sounds included in the previous packs are:
Pack 1: s, a, t, p, i, n
Pack 2: m, c, g, o, b, f
Pack 4 is also available on TPT.
This pack introduces each letter explicitly. It features the following activities for each letter sound stated for the sounds /e/ as in egg, /h/, /u/ as in umbrella, /r/, /l/ and /k/ as in kite.
- Beginning Sound Flashcards.
- Does it start with the phoneme (Yes or No?)
- Is it the letter hiding- (Yes or No?)
- Explicit formation (handwriting) in 4 multisensory ways. These are animated and highly engaging.
- Includes a game for each sound to engage learners.
- Includes flashcards to read that incorporate the sound being taught and previous sounds.
- Includes decodable sentences to read.
After teaching the letter sound, teachers could do a follow up dictation to complete their daily spelling session or literacy groups afterwards working on blending, phonemic awareness or comprehension (just a few ideas)
There are many short games included in this pack. When students start school, I have found that short activities work best to keep them engaged. These are designed to be played as a whole class and lots of discussions and talking should happen when using them. There are many games included, such as help the rhino, climb the ladder, rocket sounds and lots of sorting games too. All of the slides will be sure to keep your students on their toes and keen to learn more. It gives students opportunities to identify the beginning, middle and final sounds, isolate sounds and decode and encode sounds.
It comes in 6 fonts:
- Vic Cursive
- Sassoon
- NSW
- QLD
- TAS
- SA
Please read the following about this resource:
1. This resource MUST be opened in PowerPoint. It is animated so you will be required to play this using the slideshow tab across the top.
2. Most of the slides require a click, and this is so you can work through as fast or slow as you desire. They are not designed to all be done in one day. You can copy and paste them into your own PowerPoint, using the slides that are relevant for your explicit teaching for that day but as they are secured you have to duplicate the slides to copy and paste them.
3. The words and sentences are all editable, in case your school follows a different sequence of sounds. You may wish to add your schools sight words or some links to some phonemic awareness games on the internet. These are just a few ideas to suit the many different spelling programs schools use. This was designed to complement your school's current program and add some interactive fun to your day!
4. This pack is designed to be used over a few weeks to reinforce each set of sounds. Students will need to use workbooks or whiteboards to record sounds and work on formation! My Synthetic Phonics Pack 1 and 2 a-z pack has lots of workbook and hands on table activities that you can use alongside this resource.
5. If you are going to add these slides to another PowerPoint presentation, or if you school follows a different order of sounds, duplicate the slides by right clicking on the side panel or simple reorder them by dragging into a different position.
6. Please try and edit the animations in any way in case it changes the layout/ animation paths set.
7. This is a license for one classroom use only. If you are going to share it with your team, please buy an additional licenses. Stay tuned for Pack 4 coming soon. I will also being giving pack 1 and 2 a little makeover.
8. If something is not working in slideshow mode email me. For those people that purchase this, you will see I have included my email address.
