K OR DIGRAPH CK POWERPOINT | Science of Reading | Australian Resource
Overview
Year levels
Description
This Interactive PowerPoint teaches when to use k or the digraph ck to represent the /k/ sound at the end of a one syllable word.
It focuses on words having to follow 2 rules in order to be able to use the digraph ck.
- The word must have 1 syllable.
- The word must have a short vowel right before the /k/ sound at the end of a word.
It includes checklists, fluency games, decodable words, sentences, sorting activities, pick the correct spelling- k or ck and word lists to write. It reduces the amount of teacher support given as the resource progresses through the 107 slides. It allows students to work on formation, The decodable sentences included could also be used as dictation- where the teacher asks the students to copy out a sentence one word at a time, to assess learning to see if students are applying this spelling rule.
