Beginning Sound Alphabet Picture Mazes

26 brightly coloured beginning sound alphabet picture maze mats have been created with one letter of the alphabet the focus for each maze. With bright colours and clear graphics, this is the perfect phonemic awareness bridging resource before our students are confident with graphemes.

Beginning Sound Alphabet Picture Maze Answer Cards.

This resource consists of two files that are zipped. The first file are the Mazes. The second file contains the answer cards. You may wish to print these 4 to a page (this has been included in the resource) to save ink. Students can then check their own mazes (or check a friend's work) when in literacy groups.

Beginning Sound Alphabet Picture B&W Worksheets

For teachers looking for worksheets I have included black and white versions of each maze for students to use as worksheets. Ideal for morning work, individual work, revision or fast finishers. This is also a great ink saving option.

How do I use this resource in my classroom?

This resource is used in multiple ways, in Kindergarten/Foundation classrooms, for reading group center rotations, for morning tub work activities, as an intervention task, for homework and for fast finishers. This resource can also be used by ESL students.

When using the coloured Beginning Sound Alphabet Picture Mazes I like to use plastic covers to preserve the coloured mats. Alternatively you could laminate the mazes. Students can use whiteboard markers or counters to mark the path through the maze.
