OOK, OCK or OKE - STACK 4 Game to target Fluency
Overview
Description
This game will target the distinction when students are reading or writing words with the letter combinations OCK, OOK or OKE.
Students need to see these words often enough to commit the letter pattern to memory. Some will read enough, but others will need more time and exposure. A game like this ensures all students will benefit as decoding becomes more fluent the more they play.
You need two players and a six-sided die to play. If you are using it as a worksheet each player will need a pencil to mark the spaces they win. Alternatively, you can laminate and use wipe-off crayons. The throw of the die means the game is never the same twice so it can be played over and over.
The words I have used are:
cook, smoke, rock, look, hook, stoke, flock, chook, booklet, choke, stock, spoken, spoke, broke, cooker, woke, smock, took, pocket, poke, jockey, shook, knock, joker, docket, book, crock, spook, rocky, joke, block, brook, clock, crooked, woken, bloke, locker, rocket, spoken, crook, spooky, cookie, unhook, sock, mock, mistook, lockup, shock, hockey, booking
The Flash Cards are included if you have students who need intervention prior to playing.
