Description
This resource contains 225 This or That flashcards that will help your students to discriminate similar beginning sounds. The aim of this activity is to choose the correct beginning sound that matches the picture. The difference between the two sounds are whether they are voiced or not (with the exception of the /m/ and /n/ cards). Students need to use their decoding and phonemic awareness skills to choose the correct words. Students can use pegs, counters or markers to select the correct word, making this a fun, hands-on activity.
The sounds which students can practice discriminating between are:
/f/ and /v/
/m/ and /n/
/b/ and /p/
/c/ and /g/
/s/ and /z/
All Australian beginner fonts have been included in this resource, as well as a generic neat font.
