I used Kmart's new 6 Pack Puzzle Sorter Trays (https://www.kmart.com.au/product/6-pack-puzzle-sorter/3384812) they are perfect for small group activities and fit nicely on a group table! This activity is designed to fit in the trays just make sure to print (Actual Size). However you can also use an A4 tray just need to adjust printer settings.

Students use a paintbrush to sweep away the sand or rice/salt to reveal the dice number underneath, students subitise and then write the number on the black and white sheet. (the black and white sheet also helps students where to find the bugs).
