Description
Pick a sentence that features sounds and heart words/ irregular/ tricky words that you have explicitly taught or even make up your own and enter them into the editable template.
Get your students to cut off the strip at the bottom along the dotted lines. Place all the grey parts in the bin. Jumble up the words and place them in order. Stick them into the section with the visual icon 'glue'.
Students will then have a go at writing out the sentence leaving finger spaces and working on forming the letters/ graphemes that have been explicitly taught. They then decode the words and work on blending the sounds that have been introduced. Students then draw a picture to match the sentence- a good opportunity to build up vocabulary that is found in decodable texts to assist with comprehension.
It is available in 6 fonts- Sassoon, Vic Cursive, NSW, Qld, Tas and SA.
There are 28 ready to print templates included with the option of no writing line and a base line. The sentences are:
- I can go to the top.
- Tam can pat it.
- I am at the tap.
- I am in the pit.
- An ant is in the pan.
- The cat is on the mat.
- Is it a bat or a rat?
- We can dip in the dam.
- The pig is in the tub.
- The red bug is big!
- We can run and jig.
- The vet can fix it.
- My wig is on top.
- The hen was in the pen.
- The kid lost his cap.
- We can dig in the sand.
- The pup has a spot on his leg.
- It is fun to run up the hill.
- The frog can sit on it.
- "Get in the cab" Sam said.
- The swing is so much fun.
- The truck is stuck in the mud.
- The King can sing songs.
- We had chips for lunch. Yum!

It includes an editable PowerPoint template for you to type your own sentences in to allign it with your spelling/ phonics scope and sequence. The editable option has locked cliparts and boxes but the parts that are moveable and editable include the sentences, the vertical cut lines for you to move the cut lines between the words in your sentence and the grey rectangles that show students that these sections can go in the bin.
