The first option has a range of what, who, where, how and why questions to check for understanding and reading comprehension. The students can complete independently because both answer options are decodable and they will be able to read and select the correct answer.

I created this resource to support early reading fluency in the classroom with passages that are actually decodable and only include CVC words (not four letter words ) and a handful of high frequency words.

I have included an example fluency routine with 10 helpful steps, a phonics lesson and example literacy block.
