Description

This interactive PowerPoint is available as a stand alone resource or available in my digraph growing bundle. It explicitly teaches the two sounds of th.

It comes in three parts. The resource has hyperlinks to take you straight to the relevant slides so all you have to do is click on part 1, part 2 or part 3 when you open this resource.


Part One includes:

- An introduction to the unvoiced sound of th.

- A child friendly Learning Intention.

- Unvoiced th flashcards

- Which picture has the unvoiced /th/ sound- The 'This or That' game.

- Help the sloth find the pictures that have the /th/ sound.

- Can you see the digraph th hiding behind the feather?

- Unvoiced Decodable words in elkonin sound boxes to read.

- Unvoiced decodable words to stretch and blend.

- Unvoiced decodable sentences to read.

- Help Theo segment the th words.

- Help the king get to his thrown by reading the th words along the way.

- Can you see the digraph that makes the /th/ sound hiding behind the feather?

- Voiced /th/ Decodable Words

- Voiced /th/ Decodable Sentences to read.

- A decodable wordlist of words with the voiced /th/ sound to write.


Part Three includes:

- Fluency reading- help the dragon breathe out the th words and then identify if the word has an unvoiced or voiced sound.

- Voiced or unvoiced picture sort.

- Voiced and unvoiced picture identification game.

- Look, find and write the th digraph word that appears. Can you identify if it has a voiced or unvoiced sound.


The decodable sentences included could also be used as dictation- where the teacher asks the students to write a sentence one word at a time, to assess learning to see if students are applying this spelling rule.
