FLOSS SPELLING (FF, LL, SS, ZZ) INTERACTIVE POWERPOINT | Science of Reading | Australian Resource
Overview
Description
This Interactive PowerPoint explicitly teaches the Floss spelling rule. It explicitly teaches when to use the Floss Spelling Rule at the end of a one syllable word.
It focuses on words having to follow 3 rules in order to be able to double the final consonant in a word.
- The word must have 1 syllable.
- The word must have a short vowel right before the final consonant.
- The word must end in /f/, /l/, /s/ or /z/.
It includes checklists, fluency games, decodable words, sentences, sorting activities and so much more. It reduces the amount of teacher support given as the resource progresses through the 111 slides. It allows students to work on formation, The decodable sentences included could also be used as dictation- where the teacher asks the students to copy out a sentence one word at a time, to assess learning to see if students are applying this spelling rule.
It is available in 6 fonts:
