Vocabulary development will be easier with this poster collection when you are reading Grandpa's Great Escape by David Walliams. There are six words per chapter (except for the shorter chapters) with an excerpt from the story to promote comprehension as the word is learned. The definition is included with my interpretation of the author's intent. I have added a Parts of Speech category for nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs because the students I see are ready for this stage of literacy awareness.

This book suits ages 8 to 12. Themes of old age, death and dementia are sensitively handled within a framework of family, love and belonging. The history aspect with the Battle of Britain adds interest but it is the comedy that will appeal the most.

There are fifty pages with six mini posters per page, making a total of 300 words to use if you use them all.
