Phonemic Awareness Activities - Beginning Sound Games for Phonemic Awareness

☑️ provides a word when given a starting phoneme (e.g. p, picture)

☑️ consistently says the first phoneme of a spoken word (e.g. good, g)

☑️ listens to a group of words and indicates those that start with the same phoneme and says other words that start with that phoneme


Phonemic Awareness Activities - Blending & Segmenting Up to 3 Phonemes

☑️ orally blends two or three phonemes together to make a one-syllable word (e.g. a-sh: ash, s-u-n: sun)

☑️ orally segments words of two or three phonemes into separate phonemes (e.g. up: u-p, cat: c-a-t)

☑️ identifies the number of phonemes that make up a spoken one-syllable word comprised of less than four phonemes

☑️ identifies first and final phoneme in a word


Phonemic Awareness Activities - Blending & Segmenting Words with 4 Phonemes - CCVC CVCC Games

☑️ orally blends four phonemes together to make a one-syllable spoken word (e.g. s-t-o-p, stop)

☑️ orally segments spoken words comprised of four phonemes into separate phonemes (e.g. fresh, f-r-e-sh)

☑️ identifies the number of phonemes that make up a spoken, one-syllable word comprised of less than five phonemes

☑️ identifies the vowel phoneme in single syllable words
