This game is sure to make a difference when the rainbow facts are being learnt. There are 45 number cards, enough for 4 players. Just print more if you want a bigger group.

SPLAT is played like the old Snap Game but, instead of slapping the deck when two identical cards are played, the players look for two consecutive numbers that add to 10. This is great for mental computation. If a 4 is played, the players know they are looking for the next card to be a 6 in order to slap the deck and call "SPLAT".

I use it in intervention, and it helps when families play as well, for the repetition that some kids need, so I send it home when parents are involved and the progress is amazing. I can recommend it if you have this level of support. Otherwise, put it in a Maths Centre or use it in maths rotations. It's the repetition that does it, and the fun that goes with it is a bonus.

I find my groups learn the facts faster when we say the next number that adds to ten BEFORE the next card is put down. So, if a 3 card is up, everyone says, "Seven" together before the next card is put down. This is extra scaffolding you can use in your intervention sessions to ensure the skills are learned and the group experience success.
