Description

This interactive PowerPoint resource explicitly teaches the digraph wr making the /r/ sound. It refers to wr being a consonant digraph- 2 letters that make 1 sound. It also refers to wr being silent letter pairs, where the w is silent.

This pack includes:

- An introduction to the wr digraph.

- A child friendly Learning Intention.

- Digraph wr flaschards.

- Can you see the digraph wr hiding behind each wristwatch?

- Click on the wrappers that have the wr digraph.

- Read the wr words on the wrenches.

- Help the wriggly worm pick the word that has the wr digraph.

- The 'This or That' game- Which picture has the /sh/ digraph?

- Decodable word flashcards

- Read the words that appear on the giant wrecking ball.

- Explicit formation of wr

- Decodable Word Flashcards.

- Decodable Sentences.

- Write the wr words on your whiteboard. Read them to a partner.

The decodable sentences included could also be used as dictation- where the teacher asks the students to write a sentence one word at a time, to assess learning to see if students are applying this spelling rule.

This resource comes in 6 fonts:

  • Tas

The text in these PowerPoints is editable, allowing you to change up words and sentences if you desire. The cliparts and backgrounds are not editable but the text is.

You can also get my complete digraph bundle by clicking on the link below. The complete bundle includes 10 PowerPoints for explicitly teaching consonant digraphs (sh, ch, th, floss- ss/ ff/ ll/ zz , ck, ng, wh, wr, ph and kn).

I also have single sounds PowerPoints and Vowel Team PowerPoints available on my TPT. These are also interactive and must be opened in Microsoft PowerPoint for the animations to occur.
