I understand that gender/ sex can be a difficult topic to teach and an even more difficult conversation at times. This can be a difficult topic for surface level reasons; socially it is often “taboo” to speak about private parts and gentiles. This often creates an uncomfortable situation for students and educators alike. It is my hope, that this resource assists with this essential topic.

It is also a difficult topic, because some people may be struggling with their gender identity or sexual identify. Alternatively, they may not be struggling at all, but it may be more complex for them as individuals.

This resource has been created for basic female/ male identification. It has been created this way to support students identify themselves and understand their body parts. This is an important life and social skill for students, to ensure they are independent in society. For example, they can express themselves to medical professionals, locate appropriate hygiene facilities and advocate for themselves.
