Description
Do you have learners that struggle to articulate what they need? Maybe they are shy and don't want to speak up? Perhaps they have trouble finding the words in that moment or realise they are about to flip their switch.
There could be many reasons why our learners have difficulty telling us what they need to calm down, regulate, or get the wriggles out. This desk chart can help! Provide students with an 'I need' chart and a counter, small object or sticky note for them to place over what they need when they are struggling or need to communicate with you without the rest of the class knowing. These charts could also be used to introduce regulation strategies with your students, or to discuss how each of us needs different things in order to remain calm or learn effectively.
