Description
Give prefixes some extra traction using this worksheet/game with the whole class. There are two boards with fifty words on each. The prefixes included are dis, il, im, in, ir, mis, and un. The game needs two players with pencils and a six-sided die. No two games are the same due to the throw of the die and this is what provides high levels of engagement no matter how often it is played. All players will develop fluency and the ability to identify prefixes and apply morphological knowledge the more they play.
I have included Flash Cards as extra support for those students still developing skills in syllabication and vocabulary development.
The words I have used are:
Board 1: irresponsible, inactive, undone, impossible, disabled, unintended, uncertain, disagree, irrational, untold, immobile, irreversible, intolerant, unreliable, immoral, insecure, illegal, irrelevant, inflexible, indecisive, misbehaving, imperfect, immortal, undetected, miscalculated, disliked, invisible, disconnected, misunderstood, incorrect, undesirable, uncovered, unsupported, disappear, unsaid, unkind, irregular, uneven, untidy, dishonest, impolite, unfriendly, impatient, informal,, irresistible, indecent, incapable, disarmed, disowned, inexact
Board 2: irrelevant, unstable, dissatisfied, disinterested, unequal, unexplored, incredible, infertile, illegal, displeased, unplaced, disobey, unripe, insensitive, immature, disapprove, unnoticed, disorder, unsettled, unlikely, invalid, disadvantage, disallow, disbelief, discomfort, unafraid, impassable, unspoken, unknown, mistreated, misfortune, unfortunate, unloved, unfinished, mismatch, ungrateful, inadequate, disrespect, ineligible, discontent, impatience, mishandled, incomplete, misrepresent, inconsistent, unsatisfactory, independent, disinfect, unbiased, unpainted
