These Orthographic Mapping templates are a fantastic support for young learners who are working on consolidating early phonics skills. The simple steps and visuals support students to hear the sounds in words, helping them go from speech to print!
Students will:
1. SAY IT
Say the word out loud. This will help you to hear the
phonemes/ sounds in each word.
TAP IT
Segment the word into sounds. Tap each sound button
as you say each phoneme/ sound.
MAP IT
Place a counter in each box to represent each phoneme/ sound that you can hear in the word.
GRAPH IT
Write the grapheme to represent each phoneme/ sound that you can hear.
These come in black and white as well as 8 colour options.
PLEASE NOTE: PICTURE CARDS ARE NOT INCLUDED BUT IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU USE THE PICTURES INCLUDED IN MY DECODE AND COVER GAME BUT YOU CAN USE ANY IMAGES. PLEASE REMEMBER IT IS IMPORTANT TO ALIGN THE PICTURES WITH THE SOUNDS THAT YOU HAVE EXPLICITELY TAUGHT YOUR STUDENTS.
