Overview

Description
The aim of this activity is for students to use their decoding skills to read each of the CVC word cards and decide if they are real words or non-words. If the words are real, students place the card with the superhero. If the words are non-words, students place the card with the cheeky monster. Three options have been provided to facilitate this activity. The first is one word mat with a real word side and a non-word side. The second option is two separate word mats, one for real words and one for non-words. The third option is the monster and superhero characters on their own, which can be printed and cut out as headers for you to use how you like (e.g., on the carpet, in hula-hoops, on tables, etc.).
Word cards have been provided 16-to-a-page, in alphabetical order. There are 8 pages of real words and 8 pages of non-words. There are blank word cards provided on the last page of non-words for you to add your own words. This resource includes word cards in SA Font and a generic neat font.
